HUMAN RIGHTS

In his book, We Make the Road by Walking: Conversations on Education and Social Change, Paulo Freire said, “What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves.” When educators and students learn that the world and their rights extend beyond their local and national lines, they become empowered to be citizens of the globe. Through a series of work originally inspired by the Kennedy Foundations’s Speak Truth to Power series, Magen has and continues to develop projects and materials that feature human rights in the classroom.

Through various lessons, projects, and presentations, students and teachers will be able to…

-I can identify and explore social issues that impact people around the world.

-I can use my own voice to speak up and empower others.
